Practical skills

Skills Experimentation 1

This is my first experimentation with one of my pages of my magazine article which displays two images where one of them is representing the good side of social media and the other image which represents the bad side of social media and it also includes research which explains the beneficial side of social media.

Skill Experimentation 2

In this experimentation I was trying out the positions for images and text. These pages are for the information about the practitioners and the work/projects they had produced exploring this topic.

Skill Experimentation 3

I changed one of the practitioners I was looking into. I also moved the title of the names of the practitioners to allow me to add more text in the article and add more images. I made the text wrap around the images.  I also changed the size of the images to fit the magazine.

Skill Experimentation 4

In this experimentation I changed the positions of a few elements such as the I moved the text down. I then created a shape using the ellipse tool which I then placed the image of the author Neil Postman in the shape which is oval,  after that I included images of the two books that he has written about relating to my chosen topic.

Skills Experimentation 5

In this experimentation I included captions for the images where put the name or the subject of the image, then I placed the date of publication of the book then wrote who the author is.

Skills Experimentation 6

In this experimentation I researched and discussed the hypodermic syringe theory and my personal experience using social media, I also had to include images relating to the articles and adjusted the size of the images.  I also adjusted the size of the titles of each section of the article.

Skills Experimentation 7

In this experimentation I made a new project in Adobe Photoshop and in the file I placed an image that I had previously taken to use in my magazine and what I did to the image was that I experimented with the opacity and colour saturations on image and then when I made a final decision to keep the colour saturation that I am interested in I then used it in my magazine.

Skill Experimentation 8

In this experimentation I chose an image that I had already taken using a camera I had borrowed and used this image to create effects on it by going to Adobe Photoshop creating a new file and placing the image then I experimented with the colour saturation on the image and I then decided this is the colour I am interested in the most so I then saved the file and exported as a jpeg and imported into my magazine project which I then placed for my background of the back cover of my magazine.

   Skills Experimentation 9

Continuing from skill experiment 7, I found that this image could changed. As the original image was more green and after receiving feedback, I decided to experiment in Adobe Photoshop.  I changed the colour to be more 'pinker' so that it had more contrast. As I felt that the greenness of my original image did not suit my magazine. The tools adjustments - Colour Contrast/ Balance to help me achieve.

Skills Experimentation 10

I then decided this is the best and suitable design for this image for my magazine as it is bright and visible and can show a lot more of different complexions of colour and saturation and stands out the most than my other previous designs of this image.

                            Before                                                                                    After

These are two images which show how the image I used for my front cover and how it looks in its final stage.  In this process I had to take photo of my classmate on their phone and when I was happy with final shot that I took I then uploaded it onto my computer where I chose the image that I liked the most and the one that was the most suitable.  I then made a new document on Adobe Photoshop where I then started to try out many which could this image I then finally decided this is the final design for this image which I then placed on the front cover of my magazine on Adobe InDesign.
